ISO/IEC 17025:2005-accredited radiocarbon dating lab Beta Analytic Inc., co-sponsors the BioSystematics Berlin 2011 congress held in Berlin, Germany, from February 21 to February 27, 2011. This year’s congress is composed of three major events – the 7th International Congress of Systematic and Evolutionary Biology (ICSEB VII) of the International Organization for Systematic and Evolutionary Biology (IOSEB), the 12th Annual Meeting of the Society of Biological Systematics (GfBS), and the 20th International Symposium “Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology” of the German Botanical Society (DBG).
Hosted by the Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum Berlin-Dahlem (Freie Universität Berlin) and the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin, the congress will open with a plenary lecture on “60 Years of Phylogenetic Systematics: Progress and Issues.” Major conference topics include (1) trends in taxonomy, (2) evolution of organisms in time and space, (3) the evolutionary thought: history, philosophy and society, (4) evolution of form and function, and (5) inventorying and managing biodiversity. There will be five parallel symposia and poster sessions for each major conference topic. The event also includes workshops, satellite meetings, and excursions.
Beta Analytic is the world’s largest professional radiocarbon dating lab. Offering both radiometric and AMS dating, the lab processes thousands of samples every year including ancient DNA-related samples.
